Flushing Town Center
A competition- design for a 1.3-million square foot mixed-use development on a superblock in the heart of Queens, New York. PEI’s design was a response to the city’s request for a signature development that would reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the surrounding community and serve as a catalyst for economic renewal.

The project would have contained both luxury and affordable apartments, retail, offices, a 200-room hotel and over 1,800 parking spaces. The centerpiece was a large open space that served as a community town square and multilevel winter garden. The apartments were situated above a four-story retail hub designed with multiple street-level entrances.
