As part of an invited design competition Pei Partnership Architects was asked to propose guidelines for the redevelopment of the area surrounding the iconic modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina and historical Eastern Harbor District. The prime objective was to unify the historic city center city and the new development facing the harbor while sensitively protecting the grace and beauty of the legendary Corniche.
